A Journal Entry:

So I've been beyond boring this week, not only in actions but in mind too. Thus, the blog has had a pretty stagnant. Regardless of my Meh-ness, I do believe that you all deserved some form of post, therefore I'm going to share an ancient journal entry with you.

"Just another event to reaffirm the sort of daughter I've got.

Slowly I trudge up the hill. Kaidence weighing heavily in the backpack strapped to my back.

It's hot.

Quiet.

The only sound around us coming from my feet striking concrete and a distant rooster crowing.

My bright idea of walking Ethan to Preschool was not so bright after all. Not with this slow, never ending hill. Why didn't I think about the walking back part when I had this idea?

Breaths are getting difficult. The thirty pounder on my back is starting to squirm. She's mad at me, Kaid is. I promised her that we would stop and see the horses on the way back home, but the horses weren't in their field.

No horses = mean almost 3 year old

Kaid starts to swing her feet. Firmly kicking me in the ass over and over.

Low and behold! The next field has cows! I'm saved!

"Look, Angel. Cows." I whisper. It's all I can manage, between the hill the heat and the backpacks chest strap, I'm on the verge of asphyxiation.

Kaidences only indication that she sees them is a swift intake of breath.

We stand for a few minutes, watching the brown shaggy beasts. My back is throbbing it's self into stiffness. Knot after knot are popping along my spine. From where I stand, I can almost see our driveway. As she watches the cows, I stare longingly at home. I take a step towards it, and another.

"Stop, Mama!" Kaidence demands.

"No, Baby. We need to get home." Before I die.

"No! Mama! Me wait, see cows poo on grass."

??

That almost made me pause.

"Kaidence, that's one of the strangest requests you've ever made," I say but keep walking.

She slumps into a sulk, throwing her weight down and back, nearly crippling her mother.

Quiet returns. The birds are singing, the bugs buzzing.

A deer gently steps into the road

I stop.

"Kaid, look a deer."

Quickly she pops up. "Oooooo..." Kaid sighs.

I smile, knowing that she's loving this.

"It's so tute," my baby whispers in my ear.

The deer stops in the center of the road. It looks at us, looking at it.

"ME GONNA TILL IT!" Kaidence bellows.

Clearly shocked by such a monstrous 2 year old, the deer bounds away into the trees.

"Me gonna shoot John Deer with a gun!"

Cackling, she claps merrily.

Eh-hem. What a precious daughter I have. Such a sweet and mild demeanor she has..."

Friday = Playlist

Kim told me that she was "making" me do today's post. My response was the same as it is for a lot of things Kim says or does.

"KI-I--i-i-i-i-i-i-mmmmmmm!" (this is voiced in a combination of exasperation and whine)

See, it's not that I'm opposed to doing the post, it's that she used the word "make". I don't like people making me do anything. In fact, my initial reaction to any sort of force is to dig in my heels, say "f-ck you" and go in the opposite direction. As a grown up-ish person, though, I'm getting better at dealing with these situations. That is why I'm sitting here trying to think of something to say instead of refusing to do this thing.

But I've got a mental block. It's in the form of a giant orange creamsicle aka: Xtreme Creamsicle. I neeeeeeed one. It's all I can think about. I can almost taste it...

I've told Kim to go buy me one, but she's not cooperating. She's yet to figure out that I'm the boss of her. One of these days she'll get it... I'll make sure of it.

Ethan just came in and told me his stomach is sick... because he ate 12 plums. I told him he deserves the pain if he's going to be stupid.

Eh-hem... and with those loving words from a mother in your head, I'll leave you with the playlist.

Surf Culture

So.....I have a bit of a fascination with the surf culture.....fashion, people, laid back lifestyle, water, beach, tans, surfers, surf boards, movies, music, locations, you name it I love it! Yet, I don't surf. My husband has done it a few times (whenever we go to Tofino) but there is really nowhere around here to do it. He is one of those people that gets on a surf board and can stand up first try. We both have always said if we could live on a beach and surf our lives away....we would or at least 6 months out of a year! Though we do snowboard and snowboarding and surfing are very similar in their cultures....just opposite seasons, so maybe that's part of the reason why we are so attracted to the surf culture.

My husband has had this 6ft x 4ft cloth poster thingy of The Endless Summer since he was a teenager, we still have it and it hangs on our wall. It looks like this....I'm sure you remember this movie.....

We (as a family) really enjoy surf movies too......here are some of our favs!

Riding Gaints:

Step Into Liquid:

The Drifter:

Next week we are heading to Victoria for a few days and while we are there we are going to the Imax theater and we are going to watch The Ultimate Wave Tahiti....should be good!

I think this is one of my largest posts (sorry, I just had so much to share with you guys). Sometimes I can ramble on and on, especially about things I love. Are there any culture that you love or are fascinated with? Tell me...I'd love to hear about them!

Daily Affirmation?

How many people actually do daily affirmations? Really?

Do you do it?

Have you done it?

After watching this cutest vid ever (thanks Adrienne), it will be stuck in your head, and you will be telling yourself that you can "do anything good... better... than anyone!"

So today, yes, you will do an affirmation.

It is also Monday today.....and if you're a regular reader you know what that means.....MusicVideoMonday!!
The video that I chose today is by Brandon Flowers, lead singer from the Killers, he has a solo album coming out in September. I love his first single called Crossfire. I think he is pretty damn hot, and Charlize Theron is in it too, she's hot too. I love the little smile he gives her every time she rescues him....so cute! Anyways here is the video for the song. Hope you enjoy it!!

Words About Nothing About a Playlist

I sat down to write an intro for the playlist today, and am now drawing a complete blank. I am wordless. This is a fairly rare occurrence for me, for although I am a quiet person in general, I do have a very elaborate inner monologue going at all times which usually runs rampant in these posts. If anything, you may have noticed, I could sometimes rein in the words. But not today. Nope. Empty.

In fact, if this were any other day, I would've dumped this post on Kim. She, however woke up early today, for the first time in her entire life (I'm pretty sure) and, like the go getter she is, has already posted bright and friggen early. Stupid Kim, don't you know I'm wordless today? wft? So here I am, wordless, babbling about nothing in particular. (Which, I must add, is something I'm quite fantastic at (normally). Why talk about something when you can talk about nothing?)

The playlist this week is a bit of a mashup. A whole lotta sh-t tossed into one pile. It's the way I like my sh-t, what about you?

H&B's,
L
